You know what keeps me sane?…

…Balance.

One word. Balance. And I’m not talking about 50/50, half/half, or 2 equals.  I’m talking about finding my balance. Some days my balance looks like 70/30, 80/20 or even 50/50. That is what I am learning as I am getting older and navigating this thing called life. Finding my balance is the key to living a sane, peaceful, soft, and prosperous life.

Some days are 70/30. As a mom of 7 year old twin boys and a fiancé of a football coach my life gets a bit crazy. Every day is different. I make sure everyone gets what they need, even myself. I have learned to make time for myself and to fill my own cup because that’s my responsibility.  That’s my business. As Ms. Tabitha Brown would say lol.

A day in the life of a twin boy mom and a fiancé of a football coach often looks like this…

I typically get my day started around 5:30am. Make sure the kids are with my mom or fiancé for the day. I go to work. Get off and get home around 4pm. Pick up the kids from my mom or fiancé. Go to the track and walk for 1 mile. Let the kids play while I’m walking. Hurry home and make dinner. Shower. Relax until my fiancé gets home. Hang with the kids until bedtime. Then hang with my fiancé until MY bedtime lol.

You see where the balance came in? 70% went into making sure the kids and my fiancé had everything they needed. 30% went into me walking for 1 mile.  Balance.

Some days are 50/50. And those days often come when the kids are with their grandmother for a few days (Thank God for my village). During that time, I don’t have to necessarily worry about the kids. I make sure my fiancé is good and then I make sure I am good. That often looks like this…

I typically get my day started around 6am. (And yes, the extra 30 minutes makes a difference lol). I go to work. Get off and get home around 4:30pm. Go to the track and walk for 1 mile. Hurry home and make dinner. Shower. Relax until my fiancé gets home. Relax again while he decompresses. Then hang with him until my bedtime.

You see where the balance came in? 50% went into making sure my fiancé had everything he needed. 50% went into me walking for 1 mile and having more time to relax.  Balance.

And that’s the key for me- and perhaps for you, too. Simply find your balance. Balance doesn’t have to look equal nor does it have to look the same every single day. It just has to work for you. So whatever your ratio looks like today, make sure there is still a little bit of you in it.

Find YOUR balance Sis.
